The hight of the screen in the T IMAX theatre is the equivalent of seven elephants. It is 14 meters high and 23 metres long. It is constructed of a special diffused matte white vinyl perforated with thousands of tiny holes to allow sound to pass through freely, giving the screen "acoustical transparency".
The screen is flat but has a slight compound curvature that extends beyond the field of the edge of peripheral vision. This combined with the 23 degree pitch angle of the seating area, provides a full unobstructed view from every seat. Even if 2m high person is sitting in front of you, you will see over his head.
IMAX 3D technology is acknowledged to be the best 3D in the world. IMAX has developed a special 3D camera which incorporates two camera movements into one housing. As a result, there are two roles of films produced - one for the right eye and the other one for the left eye. The 3D film is projected onto the screen via two polarized lenses that focus the separate left-and-right - eye images of the two separate strips of film onto the screen. The audience wears polarized glasses which have the same polar alignment in each lens as the projector. The left and the right eye receives only the image intended for it and our brain creates the illusion of the three-dimensional reality.
